CALL for RESEARCH/CREATIVE ABSTRACTS

Indianapolis, Indiana, April 21 & 22 2010
Theme: Challenging Times: Adapting to a New Decade

The 2010 IDA Annual Spring Meeting will be held between April 21 and 22 at Marten House Hotel and Lilly Conference Center, Indianapolis, Indiana. The planning committee would like research /creative papers to be exhibited on April 22 from 10:00am-12N. Exhibits should be up by 9:30am and presenters or co-presenters need to be at their exhibits from 10AM to 12 noon to answer any questions. If you are interested or know of someone (e.g. student) who is interested in presenting their research/creative endeavors in any area of Nutrition and Dietetics, please use the following guidelines to submit abstracts.

Guidelines for Abstract Submission

1. Type single spaced on 8-1/2" x 11" white paper. Leave one inch margin on each of the four sides.
  Font size no smaller than 12. Do not exceed one page.

2. Center on the a) first line - title of the presentation, b) second line - name of the author (s). Place an
  asterisk (*) following the name of the presenting author and c) third line- name of author(s) institution.  

3. Abstract should encompass a) objective (s), b) methods, c) results and d) implications.

4. One copy of the abstract with author(s) and names of institution(s).

5. Two copies of the abstract without author(s) and institution(s) for blind review.

6. At least one presenting author must be a member of IDA

7. Presenters must register for the conference.

For consideration abstracts must be received at the following address or electronically no later than March 15, 2010.

Call for Outstanding Dietetic Students Nominations

You are encouraged to nominate outstanding dietetic students in one of the following programs:
DT, DPD, CP or DI.

The student must be a member of ADA and show leadership and academic achievement. The student will be asked to present a current resume, a letter from academic advisor indicating academic achievement, proof of ADA membership, and a letter of acceptance of nomination.

Membership
•Nearly 1200 food and nutrition professionals.
•Open to those who meet academic/experience requirements of the American Dietetic Association.
•Approximately 75 percent are Registered Dietitians (RDs) and four percent are Dietetic Technicians, Registered (DTRs). Members include clinical and community dietetic professionals, consultants, food service managers, educators, researchers, dietetic technicians and students.
•IDA members represent a wide range of practice areas and special interests, including: public health; sports nutrition; medical nutrition therapy; diet counseling for weight control, cholesterol reduction, diabetes, renal and other health concerns; vegetarianism, food service management in business, hospitals, restaurants, long-term care facilities, and education systems; education of other health care professionals; and research.

History
Founded in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1923 under the leadership of Mary Davis, first president.

Programs and Services
   To promote sound nutrition information for the public, the Association sponsors publications, educational events and health fairs. IDA lobbies for state legislation such as bills that will contribute to the nutritional well-being of the public.

Affiliated Associations
   Nine local dietetic associations (CIDDA, ECIDA, NEIDA, NIDA, NWIDA, SEIDA, SWIDA, WCIDA, WIDDA) and Indiana Consultant Dietitians (ICD) affiliated organization.
