Kansas Dietetic Association Board Members Focus on Tasks at Hand
The KDA 2006-2007 board members have been in “Full Throttle” mode since the beginning of June. Two major tasks at hand for this year: Strategic Plan and the annual meeting.
Beginning at the KDA annual board retreat this past June, a committee of board members was comprised with the sole mission of completing the Strategic plan for 2007-2011. Realizing the importance of including input from both fellow board members as well as KDA members across the state and ADA’s new mission “Leading the Future of Dietetics”, the strategic planning committee gathered up suggestions and ideas as tools for devising the perfect strategic plan. With such a faced paced society, the true challenge of strategic planning is setting goals that will lead us into the future, but also making realistic goals that can be accomplished within 4 years time. After many rough drafts, the strategic planning committee presented the proposed strategic plan to the board members at the October board meeting. The plan was reviewed in detail, discussed, voted upon, and passed unanimously by the board to be adopted as our new strategic plan for 2007-2011.
Plans for the 2007 Annual Meeting (in collaboration with the Missouri, Iowa, and Nebraska dietetic associations) are under full swing. The motto for the 2007 MINK (Member focused program, Inspiring speakers, Networking opportunities, Knowledge based activities) is “Together Again: Preparing for Our Future” and is scheduled to be held March 22-24 in Overland Park, KS. Connie Diekmann – President-Elect of the American Dietetic Association will kick off the weekend with her keynote address. A 5K fun run/walk will also be a highlight of the annual meeting with proceeds from the race to benefit one of the local food banks.
