Q: I would like to personally meet with a dietitian to help me establish an eating strategy that fits my life style. Can you help me find a dietitian in my area?

A: Food and Nutrition professionals who are members of the Kansas Dietetic Association (KDA) practice in communities throughout Kansas. These members have expertise in food and nutrition and often specialize in practice areas for specific needs. KDA is an affiliate organization of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). The ADA hosts a National Nutrition Network that links consumers, physicians, food manufacturers and restaurateurs, to name a few, with nutrition practitioners in a given geographical area. Welcome to Kansas, the Sunflower State! The KDA is an organization of nutrition professionals, residing, working or attending school in Kansas. Affiliated with the American Dietetic Association, KDA has many members. Membership in KDA is granted automatically through your annual membership renewal in the American Dietetic Association. 

There are six district associations covering all regions of the state. A Board of Directors and statewide committees direct and organize the work of KDA. A: KDA provides assistance for members with the Job Bank service link on our Home page. We strive to serve employers who are seeking a qualified dietetic/nutrition professional and KDA members who are trying to locate their next position.

Q: How do I find out about licensure in Kansas?

A: Information on licensure in Kansas can be found on the Kansas Dept. of Health and Environment web site at http://www.kdhe.state.ks.us/hoc/diet.html.  The forms and instructions are provided.

Q: How do I change my address for KDA (and ADA) mailings?

A: If you haven't already, please be sure to change your contact information with ADA. This will insure you receive all KDA correspondence and your registration renewal.

Go to http://www.eatright.org and on the lower left hand side of the home page click on "My ADA" and follow the links to update your contact information.

Q: Can I change my state affiliation with ADA during the membership year?

A: A member can change their state affiliate at any time during the year. The fastest way to do this is to go to the online business center on the member only Web site.

Then click on Edit Profile. The affiliate is on the payment screen (although there is no direct payment). Members can also email membership at membrshp@eatright.org or call 800/877-1600 ext. 5000.

Q: How do I join the KDA List serv?

A: Any ADA member can join by contacting Deb Canter at canter@ksu.edu with your ADA number and email address.

Q: How do I purchase your mailing list?

A: According to our Policies and Procedures, our purchasing process is as follows:

  1. The requesting organization is required to sign a contract (“Order Form for Mailing Labels” email the Executive Director for a copy) agreeing that the membership roster will be used for the stated purpose on a one time only basis. 
  2. A copy of the program or other materials being mailed to members must be provided for evaluation.
  3. The fee as set by the Executive Committee must be paid in advance prior to sending roster ($150 for complete list, $75 for a partial list).
  4. Orders placed using the “Order Form for Mailing Labels” should be mailed to the address on the form with payment.  Requests should include specific format for labels.
  5. If the use for the labels complies with KDA policies and procedures, the request will be filled within 21 days of receipt.
